The 'Word, Sound 'n Power' was used by the original Griots of Africa to story tell, this rhythmical oral tradition was carried through to the Caribbean and gradually to the rest of the World; now more commonly known as the 'Spoken Word'.

From the Motherland with her half Upper Egyptian heritage, local lifelong Lancaster Rd. resident and International Rap-Poetess, Princess Emmanuelle (Artistic Director and Founder of Kamitan Arts CIC, and compiler of the "Poetry4Grenfell" book) will draw upon the written words of prominent Afri'k'an-Caribbean artists such as Maya Angelou, Benjamin Zephaniah, and other poets of Afri'k'an-Caribbean heritage that have contributed to the "Poetry 4 Grenfell" book after the tragedy that affected many of our Grove and Latimer community and which now exists as a living written testimony from the heart of our community to and for the hearts of our community. Princess Emmanuelle has had the pleasure of sharing stages with some notable word sound power and dub artists around the World from Kemet (Egypt), Sudan, Brazil to the UK; these included Zephaniah, Al Griffiths (The Gladiators), O Rappa, Raconais MCs, Suheir Hammad and Public Enemy.

*The second edition of the Poetry4Grenfell book will be available at this event and can also be purchased through Kamitan Arts here: book
